Meatloaf falls on stage

Whenever I think of Meatloaf, and I don't very often, I imagine a bloated and sweaty, frilly sleeved jester singing Paradise By The Dashboard Light with girls hanging onto his chubby legs as if they desperately need his seed to save the human race from extinction.

I never got him. I never got his music. Paradise, an anthem for the young or drunk, made #39 on The Billboard Hot 100 in 1977. Pretty good considering the playing field in those days. 8:28 of puerile nonsense, cut down from its original 27 minutes! Imagine sitting through that?

Skipping past some cameo movie and TV appearances, Meat scored a prime time slot on The Celebrity Apprentice Season 11, which I'm sure he and his manager hoped the exposure would lead to a new generation of Meatloaf fans. Perhaps it could have if he didn't act like a complete lunatic. No need to be upset, Mr. Loaf, Baby, we can talk all night.

Recently while "performing" to what sounds like a voice track, Meatloaf collapsed on stage from dehydration. I contend the thud of Meatloaf hitting the stage was the most interesting sound he's ever made.
Before you get your panties in a knot, not only did he not get hurt, but he fell hands out first. Check out how bad the music was before he fell and how it sounded like they stopped a tape. He couldn't even fall in a cool way, at least the bloke is consistent. Time to hang it up "Meat."

What do you think? Would pay for Meatloaf Tickets? Leave your comment by going to the top of this post and clicking the blue comment link...and hey, share this blog with your friends.

Well written and a good topic. I would love to read the rest and future blogs regarding these type topics.

Never been a fan of meatloaf, but the performance on tenacious d and the pick of destiny was awesome. Jack black should have me playing bass in his band.

Yes he should. Should he call Alice Cooper for a reference? Maybe not.

I loved the first album and still do. I can't think of anything after it that was any good. Calling his album in the 90s Bat of Hell 2 was cheese. He was great in The Rocky Horror Show! I would not pay for Meatloaf tickets today but I did see him in the late 80s at The Channel in Boston and he was pretty good from what I remember.

Nice article! Yeah, I never understood all the hype. This ties in nicely with the day I realized that People Magazine was trash. I was 15 and Meatloaf was on the cover as "Sexiest Man of the Year". REALLY? Apprentice? REALLY?!? lol...
